Who is this experience for?
Anyone who loves good food, is curious about how people live in different parts of the world, and enjoys discovering places they might not otherwise find themselves. This isn’t your typical sightseeing trip. We’ll spend much of our time on the farm and in the surrounding village, sharing meals, taking part in everyday activities, and experiencing a side of Bangladesh that rarely makes it onto a travel itinerary. Come with an open mind, a healthy appetite, and a little flexibility!
What is included in the price?
The experience includes all accommodations, meals, planned activities, and transportation throughout the program, including airport transfers. International airfare, visas, travel insurance, and personal spending are not included.
What can I expect when it comes to food and drinks?
Food is at the heart of this experience, and you’ll have the chance to try a wonderful variety of Bangladeshi dishes, from home-cooked family meals to regional specialties. Fish is a cornerstone of the cuisine, so expect plenty of it, alongside vegetable dishes and meats, including beef, goat, lamb, and chicken.
As for drinks, expect plenty of tea and other non-alcoholic refreshments. In keeping with local customs and out of respect for our hosts, alcohol will not be served during the experience, and we kindly ask guests not to bring their own.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?
We’ll do our best to accommodate dietary needs while staying true to the local cuisine, but we can’t guarantee that every restriction can be accommodated, particularly in a rural setting. Please let us know about any allergies or dietary restrictions before booking, so we can discuss what’s feasible and plan accordingly.
Is it safe to travel to Bangladesh?
Your safety and comfort are important to us. We’ll be traveling with people who know the country firsthand, including Mahfuz and his family, who are Bangladesh citizens and familiar with the communities we’ll be visiting. They’ll help us navigate local customs, transportation, and logistics throughout the experience.
As with any international trip, we encourage guests to review their government’s latest travel advisories and make an informed decision before booking. We’ll also share practical guidance ahead of departure so everyone knows what to expect.
What is the best way to get to Bangladesh?
We recommend flying into and out of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka. Most international travelers will connect through a major hub, such as Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, or another regional gateway, depending on their departure city.
Guests are responsible for their international flights, but if you would prefer us to handle the booking, we’re happy to help. Just reach out and we can coordinate the arrangements on your behalf. Once you arrive in Dhaka, we’ll take care of airport transfers and transportation throughout the experience. We’ll also share more detailed arrival and departure guidance ahead of the trip.
Do I need travel insurance?
While travel insurance is not required, we strongly recommend purchasing personal travel and medical insurance that covers the duration of your trip. We encourage choosing a policy that includes medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and unexpected travel disruptions for added peace of mind.
What should I wear?
Bangladesh is a predominantly Muslim country, so we encourage dressing modestly, especially while exploring Dhaka and visiting public places. Lightweight, breathable clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is a good starting point. At the farm, the atmosphere will be more relaxed, and shorts are generally fine depending on the activity. We recommend bringing comfortable shoes, sun protection, and a few outfits suitable for visiting family homes or celebrating Eid.
Will there be Wi-Fi and mobile service?
Yes, Wi-Fi will be available at our hotel in Dhaka, and the farmhouse is equipped with Starlink. Mobile service may vary depending on your carrier and location, so we recommend checking international roaming options or arranging a local SIM or eSIM before your trip.
